How are realistic photo paintings created?

The image acquires texture, volume, and unusual effects thanks to a transparent modeling gel and strokes that are created with a coarse bristle brush or palette knife.

Drying, the strokes become completely transparent, while maintaining their relief and adding gloss to the picture, and also showing colors. The main thing is not to overdo it with the thickness of the smear - the ideal thickness of the gel is 0.3–0.5 cm. If the layer is thicker, the gel will not dry out completely, and it may become cloudy in the lower layers.

Due to the increased glossiness, the gel can be a little tacky even after drying, so we recommend applying a layer of any non-tacky varnish on top of the gel. So the picture will be better protected from dust.

Oil or acrylic strokes can be added not only to portraits but also to standard photographic paintings, such as landscapes. It is enough to additionally draw a flower or a leaf, and add a few bright accents - and the picture will immediately sparkle with new colors.
