The painting was painted by Kustodiev in 1925-1926 on the back, upside down side of the canvas "On the Terrace", created back in 1906 and depicting the tea drinking of the artist's family.

He eliminated smudges mechanically and with the help of solvents. A more serious problem, the loss of the paint layer, was solved by applying the retouching method. He built a special stretcher in such a way that the second side of the canvas with the painting “On the Terrace”, on which Boris Mikhailovich depicted his family in 1906, became available to the audience.

The work is in the collection of the Nizhny Novgorod State Art Museum, where it is exhibited in a special glass stand so that visitors can see both sides of the canvas and, accordingly, two different paintings.
