Francois Boucher (1703–1770), the famous French painter, engraver, decorator, who gained fame as the “first painter of the king”, one of the most brilliant masters of the Rococo style, the legislator of all types of art in France at the beginning of the 18th century. It is noteworthy that the first mentor of the young artist was his father, Nicola Boucher, a modest art teacher and draughtsman of patterns for embroidery. Then Boucher was a student of Francois Lemoine for some time, after which he entered the training of the engraver Jean-Francois Kars, who was involved in compiling vignettes, coats of arms and emblems for Freemasonic diplomas. The future royal artist quickly gained experience, tried himself in several types of fine art at once. The real glory came to Bush in 1730. It was at this time that the artist was introduced to Madame Pompadour, the royal favorite.
